How the business days calculator works
Choose a start and end date, then decide whether the end date belongs in the interval. The start date is always counted. With the end-date box checked, both endpoints participate; unchecked, the interval ends the day before the entered end date.
The calculator walks through civil calendar dates at local noon, which avoids most daylight-saving midnight transitions. Saturdays and Sundays are separated from weekdays so the three totals reconcile.
Worked example
From Monday August 3, 2026 through Friday August 14, 2026 inclusive there are 12 calendar days. Ten are weekdays and two are weekend days, so the business-day result is 10. Excluding August 14 changes the totals to 11 calendar days and 9 business days.
Assumptions and practical limits
Public holidays are not removed because holiday calendars vary by country, employer, and year. Treat the result as a weekday count and subtract applicable holidays separately.
An end date before the start date is invalid. The calculator shows a dash rather than a negative or misleading count.
Frequently asked questions
Does this remove federal holidays?
No. It excludes Saturdays and Sundays only, because holiday rules depend on location and workplace.
Is the start date included?
Yes. The checkbox controls the end date; the start date is always part of the interval.
Why use inclusive dates?
Inclusive counting is useful for staffing and leave spans where work on both named dates matters.
