How it works
Normalized scientific notation uses one nonzero digit before the decimal point. Positive exponents move the decimal right; negative exponents move it left. Zero is displayed as 0 × 10^0 by convention in this tool.
Worked example
123,000 becomes 1.23 × 10^5; 0.0045 becomes 4.5 × 10^-3; and 1.23e5 becomes 123,000.

Frequently asked questions
What happens with invalid or incomplete inputs?
The result remains blank until the required inputs form a finite, meaningful calculation. Zero denominators and physically impossible negative quantities are not calculated.

Yes. The tool accepts decimals and keeps full precision for the calculation while rounding the displayed result for readability.
